Friday Fives

1. iPhone 7 plus photos: I just recently got the iPhone 7 plus and I am obsessed with the photo quality. This is a picture of my puppy Maris with the portrait setting. I've heard a lot about it but really couldn't believe how amazing the quality actually was until I saw it for myself. And how cute is this puppy?? I just love her little face.

2. Al Rockerthon at SUNY Oswego:  First off I love the today show and I watch it every morning that I can. I have been watching the Rokerthon all week, where Al Roker goes around to different colleges and breaks world records with the students there. He ended the thon today at his alma mater SUNY Oswego. My boyfriend Kyle goes to school at Oswego so I thought it was the coolest thing ever that Al was there and broke the record for the longest conga line on the ice.

3. Internships: This topic has been consuming my life lately and it's starting to drive me insane. I'm really trying hard to get one that relates to my field, and it is not as easy as one may think.

4. This video of James Corden and Kristen Bell doing an ariel duet: I love Kristen Bell, I think she is the cutest thing ever. This video of her and James Corden doing an ariel duet is so funny you have to see it.

5. This peplum shirt from Jcrew: I just picked this shirt up from the outlets and I love it so much. The other day while I was wearing it a lady came up to me and asked if the shirt was from Jcrew, because she was the manager there. I think this is going to be a huge seller this year.

Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette Review

The Too Faced palettes are nothing short of amazing, and this one smells like chocolate so it can't get much better than that. There are three different palettes from Too Faced that smell like chocolate, I reviewed one of them in my Valentines day makeup look post. There is also a regular Chocolate bar one and a bunch of little palettes like the white chocolate palette and the chocolate chip palette.

I'm really into matte and sparkle browns and this is full of them. My favorites out of this palette are mousse, rum raisin, and cocoa chili. I love mousse for the upper highlight color, rum raisin for my lid, and then cocoa chili in the crease. Those are my perfect go-to shades for an easy everyday makeup look. I haven't really played around with this palette but I want to because blueberry swirl and pink sugar look so intriguing.

Too Faced has so many good palettes and I really think that the peanut butter and honey palette is going to be my next purchase. I also have the first chocolate bar palette and plan to do a review and look on that one soon.

No Back No Problem

Old Navy: sweater sold out (similar and similar) | Hollister: Jeans | Target: Slip on sneakers | Tjmaxx: Lace bralette (Similar) | Charming Charlies: Stardust and tassel pendant necklace | Kate Spade: Glasses

The weather finally cleared up enough to take some outfit photos thankfully. And now that the play my mom and I have been working on is over I have more free time to work on getting good content out there and for doing things I want to do. This past weekend I went to see the new beauty and the beast movie and it was amazing. I had heard really great things about it so I was super excited to go see it.

This outfit is a perfect for those casual colder spring days. I have talked about these slip-on sneakers a ton on my blog. If you read my makeup/fashion dupes post then you know these are the perfect dupe for the steve madden slip on sneakers. I live in these, they do run a little big so if you get them I would size down. And I am super excited about this necklace, it reminds me of the very similar Kendra Scott pendant and tassel necklace. Except for the Charming Charlies one is only 13$ and it is a bit smaller but I like that because it isn't too much necklace.

Happy Monday!

Friday Fives

1. The past couple of weeks have been super busy for me due to school, work, and trying to put on a six-grade play. Tonight we have our final show of thoroughly modern Millie Jr. which is a bittersweet moment for me because we worked so hard to get here and then all of a sudden it's just over. The other day my mom said that it is like Christmas, you plan and plan for this and then the day comes and it is all over so fast. I am so proud of my mom for all the hard work that she has put into the play, last night was an amazing show and tonight will be just as good! (The picture above is of the set that my dad built and me, my mom and dad painted.

2. I can not wait for nicer weather, last week New York got hit with a huge snowstorm and the snow is just starting to melt this week and then it started to snow this morning. The snow is really affecting my blog because I haven't been able to take any outfit photos. I have so many cute spring outfits that I want to show off but I can't because it would look weird to have a spring outfit on and 3 feet of snow behind me lol. I'm really over the snow and ready for spring.

3. Gilmore girls: I know that everyone was going crazy about a year in the life special that came out a couple months ago. I used to watch Gilmore girls every once in awhile so I figured I would watch the special but after the first one, I realized I knew nothing about Gilmore girls so I decided to watch the entire season. This was the best decision I have ever made, I am now obsessed with the show, I get excited to go home at night to lay in bed and watch a couple episodes.

4. This article on the new member of "Sesame Street". Her name is Julia and she has autism. I love love love this and think this is an amazing thing. I haven't seen this episode and I'm not even sure if it is out yet, but I do hope that they can portray her in a way that is educational and relatable for kids who have autism.

5. My blog is officially www.petiteinherpearls.com, this week I bought the domain for my blog and I couldn't be more excited about it. Thank you for all the love and support on my blog I really appreciate it!

Best Drugstore Tanning Products

During the winter months, I get super pale and as crazy as this sounds, it really makes me feel down about myself. I used to go to the tanning booth (don't do it, it's not worth it) but now I stick to the lotions and foams. I'm not going to lie it makes me really nervous to use tanning lotion. I have definitely been that girl in middle school with her palms bright orange and a stream of tan running down her forearm. And I can totally forget about a spray tan, I've only done a spray tan maybe two times and each time I got a super bad sinus infection. The first time I was in bed for a week and laid there with no lights on due to a massive headache I received anytime a light shined. I am just recently getting into tanning lotions so I don't to spend a ton of money on a product if i'm not comfortable using it.

Each of these products is completely different than the other. The Jergens instant sun is a foam base and gives a darker color than all the others. I got the light bronze in this one and it can get really dark if it is used more than two days in a row. The one I really like the most would be the Jergens wet skin moisturizer. This you use in the shower before you dry off with your towel. I loved the regular Jergens moisturizer which does not irritate my skin like some moisturizers do. I have the fair to medium coverage and it gives very little color but it can be just enough to brighten the skin. Another one I like is the L'Oreal sublime bronze, these a tanning wipes which your just wipe all over your body and these dry really quickly. The last one I like is the Neutrogena build a tan, which is a traditional lotion base and leaves a really good color.

There are a couple things that I have learned that are important to keep in mind when self-tanning:
  • Use a less amount of lotion around your elbows and knees.
  • Be careful not to get a line on your wrists when being sparse around your hands.
  • Wash your hands afterward to avoid orange palms
  • try a tanning mitt to get an even coverage.
  • Don't over do it. If you are not satisfied with the coverage after the first day then do it again, but never more than two days in a row.
  • Know your skin and what will work best for you.

Favorite Swimsuits

 1. Jcrew: Tipped seersucker tie-front bikini top | 2. Old Navy: One shoulder ruffle bikini | 3. Nordstrom: One piece swimsuit | 4. Jcrew: Gingham ruffled one piece | 5. Old Navy: lace-up rashguard | 6. Target: scallop high neck swimsuit | 7. Target: longline racerback bikini  8. Old Navy: bandeau bikini

The snow is slowly starting to melt, finally and all of these spring break pictures are making me want summer even more. One of my favorite parts of summer is the swimwear. This year there are so many cute ones to shop from. I'm really loving the off the shoulder look especially this one from JCrew. I also really love this one and this one from target because my family and I do a lot of water sports in the summer and nothing is worse than worrying if your strapless top is staying up while you're on a pair of water skis. So bathing suits with straps have become a necessity, it's just so much easier. But I also love strapless ones because they don't leave awkward tan lines.

Every year my family takes a trip to the beach and when I was younger we would boogie board with my dad all day long. And I remember getting the worst rash on my stomach from the irritation of the scratchy board and the salt mixture and also having to wear the rash guard shirts. But I found this rashguard at Old Navy and it is the cutest thing I have ever seen. I love that it laces up and this look is so in right now.

Friday Fives | St. Patricks Day Memories

1. This Sky Flounce top from tuckernuck: This top is so cute, I love the peplum by the waist and on the sleeves. I love the light blue color which is perfect for the spring transition months.

2. Add me on snapchat @petiteinpearls!
I am literally obsessed with snapchat, I follow way too many fashion bloggers and YouTubers. But I love seeing what they are doing and I really think it's a more personal source of social media.

3. Tattoo Girls: This is a new show on TLC and I'm obsessed. I don't have any tattoos and I have no plan on getting one but I think it is absolutely amazing what these girls can do. Plus the girl who owns the shop has the same name as me and her boyfriend's name is also Kyle, so of course, I had to watch it for the reason. But it really is a good show and there is more to it than just tattoo's you really get to know the artists and their stories.

4. This video of Maddie and Tae on Youtube: Maddie and Tae are my favorite country girl band and I think they are so cute. They have that really popular song "girl in a country song" if you haven't seen the music video you need to. In this video, a radio station does something very similar to James Corden's carpool karaoke with Maddie and Tae. Tae plays an old demo that Maddie has on her phone which they're embarrassed about but I really liked it!

5. Old navy ruffled off the shoulder swimsuit: The last time I owned a one-piece bathing suit I was probably 5 years old. But they are so in right now and I want one so bad. I am currently loving this one from Old Navy. I am already obsessed with the off the shoulder look and adding that into a bathing suit is so cute.

Happy St. Patricks day! Growing up St. Patricks day was a huge day in my house, more so the weekend before because that was parade day. My father is very Irish (his name is actually Patrick so he always joked it was his holiday) he can play the bagpipes and I Irish danced when I was little. We always know it's March when the pipes come out of storage and he plays his favorite song. In Albany, the capital of New York, there is a St. Patricks day parade every year that everyone gets super excited about. My father was also a fireman so every year we would march with the firehouse. There was many roles that my family had in the parade myself included. One year I was miss colleen of the parade, other years I was a "pom-pom girl" which was a cheerleader, another year Irish danced throughout the parade. Through all the memories there is always corn beef and cabbage that can be counted on every year to come.

Me and my momma on parade day, in 2013!

March Ipsy Bag

I have been getting Ipsy bags for over a year now and I'm obsessed with them, it is so fun to get a package each month that is a surprise. But because they are a surprise and you don't know what you are getting, sometimes they can be better than others. It is always so fun when they have super good items in them like this month. This month the bag that came with it was bigger than usual which I really liked because sometimes they are super small so you can't fit many products in them. But this month it was larger and super cute. This month the products I received were a blending brush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, 10 in 1 primer, and lip paint.

Beau Gachis tapered blending brush: I feel as though a blending brush is the most important eyeshadow brush you can have. It's also the most important step when doing your eyeshadow in my opinion. This brush is really good quality, the hairs feel firm so that it won't be flimsy and can really get in the crease to blend all of the colors together. This brush retails for $12.00, so this brush costs more alone than the entire bag itself.

Eva-NYC 10-IN-1 Primer: It is so important to protect your hair and this 10-in-1 smells and feels so good in your hair. I typically use one when I blow dry my hair but I tend to shower at night so that my hair can air dry throughout the night. So on the weekends I typically shower in the mornings so this is when I would use this spray. This primer strengthens, softens, detangles, and so much more.

Model co. eyeliner: I love getting eyeliner in my ipsy bags, especially black because it is such a key element to my everyday makeup look. Sometimes ipsy will send crazy eyeliner colors like light blue and purple with sparkles, but those aren't realistic for my everyday looks but they are fun to play around with. Another bonus of this eyeliner is that this company is vegan and cruelty-free!

Tarte Lip paint: I've heard so much about these lip paints from Tarte so I am so excited to try this out. This color is gorgeous and it is in the color vibin. This is a quick drying matte lip gloss, I love when a lipgloss is quick drying because nothing is worse than getting lipgloss stuck in your hair or left on your glass that you're drinking.

INT cosmetics eyeshadow: I have never tried any products from INT cosmetics but this eyeshadow color is amazing. This is such a color I would use in my everyday makeup look. This color is called goddess gold, I can't wait to incorporate this a new look.

All of the products linked are the full sized versions, ipsy sends smaller versions and sometimes full versions of the products. The full retail price of this bag was 64$ if you bought all of these items at full size. The only products that weren't full sized was the 10-in-1 primer and the Tarte lip paint. The ipsy bag is only $10 a month.

Makeup/Fashion Dupes

I have had my eye on these Steve Madden slip on sneakers forever so when I found them for only 20$ at Target I just could not resist. Also, the ones at Target have more colors to choose from. The only thing about the Target shoes is that they run big so I would get a size down. The Steve Madden ones also have a little more cushion but the Target ones are still a great dupe.

This long sleeve peplum top on the left is from J. Crew and the left is from Old Navy, they both look almost exactly the same. The color is a little different but in my opinion, I like both of these colors and the Old Navy shirt is only $7 so that shirt wins!

I have used cream eyeliners for the longest time now and I have tried a bunch of them, high end and drug store. The one I like the best always ends up being the $3 one from e.l.f. cosmetics. The price is hard to beat for the quality that it is. It is long-lasting and so easy to apply.

This Milani eye primer is very similar to the too faced insurance primer and is less than half of the cost. This Milani eye primer left my eyeshadow lasting all night, as well as the Insurance primer did. When deciding between the two I would pick the Milani one because of the price.

Spring Wishlist

These are a few of the things that are on my wishlist for the upcoming Spring season. I can not believe that today is March, it feels like this year is flying by. It just hit me that in three months I'll be 22 years old and that is crazy!

I love spring and the bright, fresh, clean colors that come along with it. I am loving these hunter rain boots in like light pink color. I talk about this LL. Bean jacket all the time, but only because it is my favorite coat that I own. It is literally perfect for the spring and fall months and the color is so amazing. It also comes in tan and a heavier version which has a fleece lining in it.

What are some items on your spring wishlist?
