Back To School

Hey guys! So it is that time of the year again, the time that we all dread but are also kinda excited about because you just bought new pens. I am talking about back to school guys! So I have compiled all the topics about back to school that I want to talk about into one post so we don't have to dwell on it (or at least I don't have to lol).

School supplies:

So for school supplies, I actually do not use that much stuff at all. This semester along with most other semesters I am taking 5 courses. I found for myself that one 5 subject notebook works the best for me, I hate trying to keep track of 5 different notebooks and then forget one it's just annoying. This also goes for my folder, these days a lot of this are electronic so I typically don't even have that much paper to put into my folder. My favorite supplies that I have would have to be my colored pens which go along with my Lilly planner. I color code only the monthly calendars in the beginning of the month and I feel ridiculous saying this it is my favorite hobby.

See what was in my backpack last year here!

School essentials:

These are just a couple of items that I have found to be my essentials for going to school. These items are mostly related to the colder months because unfortunately, it will be freezing before we all know it, well at least in New York it will be. I have been loving grey Nike sneakers lately, I think I like them so much because they go with everything. I have to say with September being only 1 day away I am so excited for fall now, and my favorite fall item is this Freeport Field Jacket from L.L. Bean. I have worn this coat so many times you can see it here. Saying I am obsessed with this jacket is an understatement I wear a small and it is big enough that I wear a thing north face fleece under it when it gets really cold.

Advice:
A few words of advice I have for college students, or just students in general:
1.) If a teacher/ professor gives a page maximum, don't go over the requirement because you think           they will look at it as you tried really hard! Words from a professor I once had: "I have a life               too"
2.) Get involved. This was something that I really struggled with while attending community                   college because it was so easy to get caught up in the go to school go home cycle. But I really             don't mean to sound like that great aunt at a Christmas party saying that joining the cats of                   America (I made that club up but I would totally join it if it was real) because you will make               tons of friends. But you really should try to get involved.
3.) Have fun and that is pretty much it. Go out meet new people and just have a good time!

Good luck at school this year everyone!

Chatty Monday | 2

Blog name...
So if you are familiar with my blog you may have noticed that some changes have been made. I recently, I mean really recently, like as of 2 days ago switched the name of my blog. This blog was formally known as NYposh and the new name is petite in her pearls. I felt as though this blog needed something that described me more for who I am. I am only 4'9 so the petite part really comes to play in my life. Even though I live in New York that is not who I am. So I am very satisfied with this new name and I am so excited to continue to grow with this blog. I really hope you guys like the new name just as much as I do. Let me know in the comments below what you think!

Sad news...
This time of year for me is always super hard because that means that Kyle has to return to school for the year. Kyle attends college about 3 hours away from where we are from. I can't believe this will be the 3rd time I am saying goodbye to him as he begins a new year. Time really does fly by so before I know it he will be back here. But both of us are almost done with our college days so it's a refreshing feeling knowing that we won't have to be long distance for much longer.

Jumping right back into the reality of school and work immediately after our vacation ends is tougher than I thought it would be. But it is also a good thing because it gets my mind off of Kyle being gone because I have the distraction of all these things and they will definitely keep me busy. So I will be sitting in class dreaming of the beach all the frozen drinks that were consumed the past week.

School...
Today I start another semester at college, which is crazy to me to see how long I have come. I will be starting my Junior year in college this semester, but I should be starting my senior year. The reason I am only a junior is because I attended a 2-year community college, which was the best decision I have ever made. Going into college I had no idea what I wanted to do in life, so I used my time at Community college to figure that out. Since I did do so much deciding and my entire time there was pretty much trial and error, all of my credits didn't transfer so I am a year behind. I personally think that it does not matter when you graduate everyone does things at a different pace and that is okay. I am a little nervous going into this semester because my course load seems a little difficult but I know that I have to work hard to get the success and the grades that I want. So with that being said good luck to everyone as we start this new school year! As my momma always says "You got this (insert muscle emoji)".

Travel | Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

This was the set up for a wedding that was held on Tuesday night, we had the perfect view from our hotel room balcony. I thought this set up was absolutley gorgeous. Right next to this was a small cocktail hour set up with a few tables. The view of the beach and all the surrounding palm trees is beautiful and perfect for a wedding. I love weddings so I really enjoyed this. if we didn't have dinner reservations that night I would have sat on out balcony and watched the entire ceremony (I hope thats not creepy! Oh well I love weddings!)

Kyle and I enjoyed the shade under the pier on one of our long walks along the beach.

Even at night the views are still so pretty!

Today my family and I leave our summer 2016 family vacation. We had a great time and we are all very sad to be leaving and jumping back into reality as soon as Monday hits. South Carolina is a beautiful state and well worth the 13-hour drive from New York. The beaches are so clean and everyone is so nice down here I could so see myself living here if I didn't love New York so much.

We stayed at the breakers resort for the first time this year, and it was gorgeous. We usually stay at a different hotel here but due to my little sister's cheer tryouts we had to push our vacation back a few days and our other hotel was not available for these dates. But it all worked out because the breakers resort is so nice. I loved the view from our hotel room it looked like we were on a cruise ship because all you could see was water. My mother's favorite part was the washer and dryer in the room!

We ate so much good food and had such a great time relaxing!

Knit Beach Cover Up

This cover up is unfortunately all sold out but I found a couple that are similar in the style.
Coverup: Similar and Similar | Bathing Suit: TopBottom | Flip Flops: Leather Flip Flops | L.L Bean: Beach Bag | Hat: Women's classic baseball hat

Hello everyone! I'm still in South Carolina for a couple more days and we have been living at the beach. We are there when the sun comes up till it is time to go get ready for dinner. That is a lot of sun (I'm not complaining at all) But my skin and the top of my head are a little bit, so I have been living in this hat and my coverup. I bought this coverup at Abercrombie at the end of last summer because I couldn't pass it up. Unfortunately it is all sold out now but, I did link a couple similar ones up above! I've also been loving this Old Navy bathing suit, it's so simple and was so inexpensive, but it is definitely my favorite suit of the summer.

Did you all check out the Lilly Pulitzer sale? I can't wait to show you guys the couple of items I got. I hope everyone got what they were looking for!!

Boardwalk Pull-on Shorts on a Boardwalk

J.Crew: 3" PRINTED BOARDWALK PULL-ON SHORT (Different pattern) Similar| Garage: Shirt Sold Out (Similar) | Nautica: Bahia T-Strap Bow Sandals | Premier Jewelry: Gold Chain necklace (Similar) | Fossil: Cat eye sunglasses

We finally made it to South Carolina,  Myrtle Beach! The car ride was a little rough I'm not going to lie but we are here and we are loving it! It is gorgeous here it's one of my favorite places to visit, it's so relaxing, but also filled with fun things to do. Last night we went to Murells Inlet to a restaurant called Creek ratz. It's called Creek Ratz, because that is the nickname of the kids who live in Murells Inlet. I love restaurants that have a great meaning behind them. If you come to Myrtle Beach going to Creek Ratz is a must. The hush puppies are delicious and there is always a band and people line dancing, it's a gem in the middle of thousands of restaurants here.

So a new J. Crew store opened up in the mall in my area and you could say I'm obsessed especially since it's a J. Crew Merchantile, which is like a J. Crew Factory only located in a mall.  Before leaving for Myrtle, Kyle and I headed over to check it out and we each got a pair of shorts. I picked up these cute boardwalk pull-on shorts for only 27$. I love the hot pink pattern and the stretchy waistline is perfect for vacation to make room for all the food i have been consuming while here!

Ok! Who is shopping the Lilly sale today?! I am writing this the night before and already have my alarm set. I usually have something in mind of what I want, but this ,time there isn't something I really have my eye on. This could be dangerous because then I could just get one of everything!

I hope everyone gets the items they want and happy shopping!

Road Trip Essentials

Tomorrow my family, kyle, and I are all headed to South Carolina Myrtle Beach for our yearly family summer vacation. This year is a little different because it is Kyles first time going to myrtle beach, and because this is the first time Kyle and I will be driving 12 hours by ourselves. I am so excited, a little nervous but mostly excited.

This little list I came up with will hopefully make our car ride a little more enjoyable Kyle likes the car super cold so the most needed thing in my list will be the sweatshirt. We are going to switch driving every now and then so Kyles most important item will be his new DS2 that I gave him for our anniversary. For the both of us the AAA car kit is a super important item just in case something happens, we will have tools.

What is your road trip essential?

2 Year Anniversary with Kyle

My outfit: Old Navy: Cami Dress // Nautica: Sandals //  Dogeared: Necklace
Kyles outfit: Old Navy: Crew-neck Tee // Old Navy: Shorts // Sperry: Shoes

Our one-year anniversary photos: Here

For those of you who don't know, this is my boyfriend Kyle, and today we have been dating for 2 years. I couldn't be more grateful to have this man in my life, every day he makes me feel like the only girl in the world. Kyle is the kindest and sweetest person I know, I still find it so funny and cute that if you ask anyone we went to high school with then they will tell you that about Kyle. The two of us went to high school together but never once talked, then our second year of college we found each other and we have been in love ever since.

To take a quick turn in this conversation, I love this dress I am wearing. I love it even more because it was only 15$. I ordered it online because I wanted a new dress for vacation and it blew my expectations out of the water. It was a light lighter and softer than I expected it would be, I'm really considering buying another one.

Kyle is wearing an all old navy outfit as well (I have a huge obsession with old navy for myself and Kyle). I am loving these teal shorts he is wearing, and this tee he has on are his favorite I think he has them in every color!

Thanks for an amazing 2 years and here's to so many more years to come ky!
