This past weekend was my brother's girlfriend's (Kaitlin) birthday, so for the day we took a trip to Vermont to visit the Hildene house. The Hildene was the home to Abraham Lincoln's oldest son, Robert Todd Lincon. This home was the home of descendants from Abraham Lincon all the way until 1975 when the last direct descendant passed away and then the house was preserved and made into a landmark. This historical site is gorgeous, my cousin actually got married here a year ago. It was amazing to walk around the grounds and learn new historical facts.
Outfit: Old Navy: Sleeveless knit swing dress (Similar) | Old Navy: Belt | Nautica: Bow sandals | Fossil: Sunglasses
The first stop we made while walking the grounds was at the formal gardens which were located in the back of the house. I didn't take many pictures on the inside of the house because I just wanted to take it all in. But the outside was too gorgeous not to.
The house itself was gorgeous and also huge! The tour guide told us that there were over 20 rooms and this was meant to be a small family home and not entertaining people. It is considered to be a small cape meant for just the family members.
The next place we walked to on the grounds was the farm where there were goats and a building which was where they produced goat milk and goat cheese. The goats were very talkative that day and it was actually quite funny.
The last place we visited was an old train that was actually the home to FDR when he was on the road. It was beautiful and I would not have minded traveling in one of these trains!
Gorgeous look! I really love your blog, just followed:D
