What I'm Packing For My Upcoming Trip

This weekend is my annual girls trip with my mom, my sister Kara, and Kaitlin! Every year we go to Manchester Vermont and spend the weekend shopping at the outlets and eating delicious food. This time we are spending an extra night so packing was a little more extensive this time so I thought I would share a little of what I am bringing!
I am planning to wear this outfit on the way to Manchester, it's not a long drive but this will be comfortable to sit in the car in. In the post I did on this plaid ruffle shirt I talked about how soft it is and I am not exaggerating when I say it may be the softest shirt I own. Highly recommend it.

For this outfit, I plan to wear it on the second day for our day of shopping! When I spend the day shopping I like to layer and wear things that are easy to take on and off when trying outfits on. The shirt under the cardigan is a tank top from Jcrew which is lightweight.

Other things I am bringing include (but not limited too):

What usually ends up happening on these trips is I pack a ton of different outfits to bring with me and end up wearing none of them because I just wear what I bought while shopping there. I am so looking forward to getting away and make sure to look out for the upcoming posts on our trip and follow along on Instagram to see more of our trip --> @petiteinherheels

My Favorite Jacket

J.Crew Factory: Water Resistant Rainjacket | Gap: Jeans | Target: Flats | J.Crew Factory: Teddie Sweater
To be honest I was freezing while taking these photos and the wind would not let up but that's the fall for ya. Anyways this jacket from J.Crew seems to be a reoccurrence here on the blog but I really do love it. So because I am so short the sleeves on this jacket were a little too long so I took the end of the sleeve and rolled it into the perfect length and they have not moved. A heavy sweater fits comfortably under this jacket making it perfect for the colder fall days.

This jacket is a little on the pricey side but well worth it for how much use I have gotten out of it. This jacket is regularly 98$ but right now J.Crew has a deal going on if you spend 100$ then you get 30% off of your order which makes the price really worth it!

Fall and Winter Jackets

It has been pretty chilly here in upstate New York, there was none of that warm cool fall air it pretty much just went to cold. So I have already had to pull out most of my jackets. I feel as if I will never be fully satisfied with the amount of jackets I own and I will always want more.

J.Crew jackets (along with everything else in that store) I feel are the best quality and styles of jacket. I have been living in the water-resistant rain jacket, I just wish it came with a lining or was a little heavier so I could wear it more as it gets colder. Speaking of J.Crew jackets I have had my eye on the city coat for as long as I can remember and it is definitely going on my Christmas wishlist this year. And they have petite sizes which are even better so it won't go down to my ankles.

These teddy bear jackets were super in last year and I am so excited to see that they are back in again this year. I love this one by Kensie which looks so cozy I may just get it to use it as a blanket. Comfort is definitely an aspect I look at when buying a jacket, I hate when it's tight and you can't lift your arms. I'm also really sensitive to certain fabrics when it comes to jackets so I always make sure to have that in mind when picking out a new one.

Ruffle Flannel Shirt

J.Crew Factory: Ruffle flannel shirt | Gap Factory: Jeans | Target: Flats

It is finally starting to feel like fall here in upstate new york and I am loving it. Last week it was so hot that we had to turn the air conditioning back on! Now I am finally comfortable in my new fall pieces like this ruffle flannel shirt from J.Crew factory. This top is so soft and comfortable it is definitely going to be a favorite piece of mine this fall and winter.

I just wore this outfit this past weekend out to lunch with my family and grandparents to celebrate my mom's birthday at our favorite Italian restaurant.

This top also comes in a plaid print that I will probably purchase in the near future because of how soft this one is. When I originally purchased this I was really unsure about it and was planning to wear it just under a vest but I think that it looks just as cute without the vest!

Flower Power in the Fall

JCrew: Flower Vest | JCrew: Teddie Sweater | Gap: Jeans | Target: Flats | Vince Commuto: Luck Tote

I have a serious thing for J.Crew vests in the fall months and this may or may not be one of the many J.Crew vests that you see even within this month. I picked this one up the other week and I fell in love with it because it can go with so many different outfit combinations as well as different seasons. I knew I had to get this one when the manager told me they had it in the store for less than 24 hours and this was the last one they had (or at least that's how I justified myself to buy it).

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday so today I will be spending my day baking and decorating a cake! It's a surprise what type of cake it is for her but maybe on Friday, I will share what it was! Monday's post was all about what we did this past weekend for moms birthday, check it out here.

This Vince Camuto luck tote was part of the 2018 fall fabfitfun box. This bag retails for $128 and the fabfitfun box is only $50. This is why I love the fabfitfun box, the items are such a good quality and the retail value of the box is so high that it makes it so worth the price of the actual box.

Silk Hem Top

J.Crew: Long Sleeve Top with Silky Hem | Gap: Rockaway wash Jeans | J.Crew: Sawyer Suede Boots | Sugarfix: Druzy Necklace | Ray-Bans: Clubmasters | Amazon: Faux leather watch band

As you may have seen from Monday's post, J.Crew is the only store I've really been shopping at lately (I need to branch out more). J.Crew just has the best clothing pieces for any occasion, they have dresses, tops, and bottoms for work or casual. Right now I am more casual in my style and J.Crew is where I go for all my basic needs! I talked about these boots in Mondays post, (LINK) about how they continue to be my favorite fall shoe year after year. I love that it is that time of year when you can wear long sleeves and booties but not have to wear a jacket. I am so ready for fall.

J.Crew Factory Fall Wishlist

I have always been a fan of J.Crew, especially the factory stores because it is good quality clothing without breaking the bank. Lately, I have become more and more obsessed with this store then I have ever been. Maybe it's due to the mercantile store that opened within the past couple of years in our mall or because the clothes are super cute this season. Regardless I am loving everything J.Crew and I have compiled some of the items that will most likely be purchased in the future.

1. Tiered Chambray Dress - I fell in love with the ruffle chambray dress that I purchased from J.Crew over the summer so I was super excited to see this one that was more appropriate for the fall. I love dresses that transition perfectly into different seasons and this one is perfect for that.
2. Open-Front Sweater Blazer - I already have this sweater blazer in tan from last fall, I love it so much that I'm seriously considering getting it in grey. It is heavier than a cardigan but lighter than a jacket. I believe that it's a perfect balance to make it work as either a jacket or a cardigan.
3. Teddie Sweater - The teddie sweater is a reoccurring favorite of mine, it is a must-have staple in your closet which looks good alone but also pairs perfectly with vests and light jackets. The teddie sweater comes in a bunch of different colors (I may end up with one in every color that's how much I love them).
4. Mini Skirt in Corduroy - To be honest skirts are not something that I gravitate towards but I do love that corduroy is making a comeback. This skirt is definitely high on my wishlist and I can see so many future outfits that include this piece.
5. Ruffle Neck Pullover - I love simple tops that have a little extra something to make them look like you put together an outfit without actually trying. This is the perfect top for that due to the cute ruffle that peeks through the neckline and the bottom of the sleeves.
6. Off the shoulder bow top - This top is perfect for going out to drinks with the girls or to a date night. I find it to be really hard to find outfits that are cute and practical for going out at night in the colder months. This off the shoulder top is the perfect going out top of fall and winter.
7. No-show socks - I have talked about my no-show sock obsession but only the ones from J.Crew. Honestly, the last thing I need is another pair of J.Crew no-show socks, but these have pumpkins on them so really how can I pass them up?? Right now they are also on sale 3 for 12$ which is a good deal!
8. Ruffle Front Top - I find it's always good to have a few professional pieces in your closet in case a time comes up when one is needed. Or maybe you need to be professional in your everyday life, this top I feel is a perfect workday shirt.
9. Resin-coated Twill Jacket - Someone needs to stop me from buying outerwear but I have a very good feeling that this jacket will become mine this fall season. I've had my eye on a jacket like this for a while and it might be time to be added to my closet.
10. Side-tie T-shirt - I love basics from J.Crew, with my job I have to wear casual clothing because getting stuff (children mess) on me is something that is most likely going to happen so I love to wear basics that can easily be cleaned.
11. Sawyer Suede boots - I have talked about the camel colored Sawyer boots that J.Crew has multiple times on my blog before. Now I am considering getting another pair in black due to how much I wear that camel ones. They are such a comfortable boot and pair so well with so many different outfits that I feel it is worth it to get another pair.

Back to School | Weekly Review | Weekend Happenings

Weekly Review: This past week was the start of school which for me means back to work again. Right now I'm subbing a lot because I don't want to get too overwhelmed with work and my own school. Yesterday was the official first day of school for the elementary and high school kids even though it did not feel like it should have been because it was so so so hot.

This past week I also got a new MacBook Air which was completely unexpected and much needed. My old MacBook Air was about five years old and on its last leg, it would only turn on if it was plugged in and that was not going to work for me so it was really time to get a new one. Making such a big purchase made me so nervous. I'm 23 and felt like I should call my mom to get her permission to buy something with my own money (I know i'm ridiculous)!!

Weekend Happenings: One positive part about school starting back up is the Friday night football games! My little sister is on the varsity cheerleading team, it's something she is super passionate about so it's so fun to go watch her.

I am also going to my favorite Mexican restaurant in Saratoga Springs on Saturday night which I am super excited about. They just opened at a new location which is now two stories and I haven't been to the new one yet!

Recent Purchases:
  • New Sneakers: New school year means new sneakers for gym class right?! Okay so maybe my "gym class" now consists of work out videos played on my TV and the stationary bike I have at my house but I'll still use this excuse for new sneakers. These new ones I actually got from Target and I am obsessed with them. I feel like they look so different than any other sneaker that I've owned.
  • Printed Puffer Vest: This is one of my favorite items I bought from all of the Labor day sales that were happening. Jcrew Factory has some amazing deals on these vests, my mom and I actually bought four of them (they will be featured here in the future). This flower printed one is hands down my favorite.
  • MacBook Air: I already mentioned this big purchase but it's just so exciting when you get to open that crisp and clean apple box, I was even excited about the new charger! There aren't many differences but it just feels new.
Obsessed with at the moment
  • Bachelor in Paradise: I am in love with this season which I'm surprised with because I was not into Becca's season. I love Jenna and Jordan and of course Kevin and Astrid but I'm super sad about Tia and Jordan. So I am sad that they didn't work out but after thinking about how Tia reacted and her saying he tried and it didn't work I am okay with them going their separate ways. I am actually super excited about him being the new bachelor.
  • Scotty McCreery's Wedding Video: I love watching wedding themed videos on YouTube. I love getting into that deep weird part of YouTube and you start watching maid of honor speeches where they sing the speech (This one is my favorite). If you know me then you know I only really listen to country music so two when two of my favorite things combined you know I was excited. Scotty's wedding music video is almost as beautiful as his new wife Gabi who just looks like the sweetest person ever. I definitely recommend giving this a watch.

Healthy Eating and Good Pants

If there are two things that I love in life it is healthy food that actually tastes good and a piece of clothing that you feel great in. I am happy to bring to you today both of those things, Acai bowls and linen Jcrew pants may be my two favorites of August.

Shirt: Express (similar) | Pants: JCrew | Bag: Amazon (similar) | Shoes: Jack Rogers | Necklace: Dogeared | Sunglasses: Ray Bans | Bracelet: Kendra Scott (Similar

Have you ever bought something and thought: "I am going to be brave but I really don't know about this". That's exactly how I felt when buying these linen pants. But it turned out to be the best decision that I have made and I am now completely obsessed with these pants. I literally wear these pants in so many different situations, I wore them recently to the movies because they are so comfortable. I like to roll them up and wear them with sandals but they could easily be rolled down and transitioned into the fall. I keep checking every Jcrew Factory store trying to find more but they are all sold out because of how amazing these pants are.

So I have finally tried an Acai bowl and I can not believe it has taken me this long to actually try one. I feel like I am always craving one lately and where I live the place to get them is like 30 minutes away (first world struggles). The mix of peanut butter with granola and the acai is just so refreshing but delicious at the same time. If you haven't had one before I highly recommend them!

August Wishlist

I cannot believe that it is August already. This summer is going by so fast and it really has to slow down. So today I am talking about my wishlist for August, some of the items are summer related (to keep this summer going) and some are transition pieces because fall is upon us.
Greece leather slide sandals - I love this style of sandals but there is no way that I would spend $700 on a pair of the Hermès ones. But Steve Madden has this pair which is very similar and only $80, which is a little more in my price range.

Dual zip crossbody - I have been wanting a very simple crossbody bag that would go with any outfit and is appropriate for any occasion. This crossbody from Target is exactly what I have been looking for, it is inexpensive so it can be brought to concerts or summer events and I won't be too worried about it getting ruined!

Vineyard Vines Skort - Serious question here: are skorts making a comeback? I'm really into selling and buying items on Poshmark right now and I really want an older (vintage?) piece of Lilly Pulitzer. One of the vintage pieces on there that I have my eye on is a Lilly skort.

Jcrew Tie Tee - Jcrew t-shirts are my favorite basic tee's, they are so comfortable and I love the fit of them. I love this tee with shorts but it also transitions well with jeans or army green pants for the fall time.

Sun Hat - I have a beach trip coming up at the end of August and there is nothing worse than getting a sunburn on the top of your head. My mom and I always say we're going to make a hairspray with sunscreen in it that doesn't leave your hair greasy.

Lilly Pulitzer dress - There is nothing better than a Lilly dress in the summertime and even better yet the Lilly sale is just around the corner. I'm excited about this year's sale although I don't have a want for a specific item so we will see what I end up with.

Circle wicker bag - I have seen these bags and variation of wicker bags everywhere this summer and I actually can't believe I don't have one yet. I think they are so cute and this one from Target is at the top of my NEED list (yes it's a need not a want).

Pom Pom Beach cover up - This is another item that I have had my eye on for a while. I love beach cover-ups but I never buy them because I feel as though they are something that gets's ruined very easily. But I have wanted a pom pom cover up for a while so I may have to do it this summer.

Vineyard Vines hat - Okay so the last thing I need at the moment is another Vineyard Vines hat but I really want a white one.

Kentvi Sandal - These sandals are part of the Nordstrom anniversary sale on a great deal right now!! These sandals are the perfect transition shoe from summer to fall. I love these because they are so versatile.

Woven Faux Leather Weekend Bag - As I said before I am going on a beach vacation at the end of August and I have a couple of other getaways around that time. So I will be living out of a suitcase for a little while. In order for me to be able to live out of a bag, I like to really enjoy the bag. Right now I am using a Vera Bradley duffel, one of those that I think every girl owns, but it's just too flimsy. I want a sophisticated one like this leather bag from Violet Ray.

Ruffle Dress

The ruffle trend on dresses is big this year and I am completely on board with it. This Ruffle dress from JCrew is going to be my staple for the summer. I love a dress that fits well and can be worn to so many different events and places.

Jcrew: Ruffle dress | Jack Rogers: sandals  | Kate Spade: (SIMILAR) | Raybans: Clubmaster

I actually just wore this dress to my preschool's graduation ceremony and then immediately jumped in the car for a four-hour road trip to Maine (You can read all about our trip in this post here). It was a long day and I was comfortable in this dress the entire time.

The ties on the sleeves are adjustable when I first tried this on the sleeves were a little tight but after I readjusted them they were perfect. This dress also comes in a variety of other patterns and colors which are also so cute! Being under 40$ it is the perfect summer dress. At the preschool graduation, one of the mom's commented on this dress saying how summery it looked.
